Surviving the Holiday Season with Intact Plumbing

The holidays can be a magical time for families and friends to travel and get together. It is not uncommon to find homes filled to the brim with life. As wonderful as an experience this can be, everything can turn bad quickly if individuals do not pay attention to their entire plumbing system. The extra people in a home can push a plumbing system to its limits.

One of the most common complaints for this time of the year is a lack of hot water to go around. Taking a cold shower on a cold day is never pleasant. We can help you adjust your system so that extra hot water can circulate through your home at this time. By altering the temperature of the water heater, you can temporarily increase the amount of hot water in a home.

Cooking picks up at this time as well, and so you must be extra careful of what is going down your drain. For those that have garbage disposals, you must not allow the following items down them:

  • Celery and other stringy vegetables
  • Eggshells
  • Potato Skins
  • Oil, grease, and fat
  • Rice
  • Pasta
  • Bones

The wrong thing down your drain can potentially clog the pipes, which would make cooking and cleaning incredibly tricky. A plumber in Manhattan can help with drain cleaning so that you can take back control of your kitchen.

Be mindful of how your home plumbing system is being used during this holiday season, so that you can avoid an emergency plumber NYC.
